Celestia Maria Williams

Celestia Maria Williams, 99, of McArthur, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Huston Nursing Home in Hamden. She was born October 8, 1908 in New Marshfield, daughter of the late Albert and Clara McLead McKibben. Celestia was the widow of the late Dana E. Williams, who passed away in 1978.

She retired from Ohio University in 1973 where she was a Library Assistant in the Fine Arts Department for many years, was a member Grace Baptist Church in McArthur where she taught Sunday school and was the narrator for the passion play for many years. Celestia was also a member of the Sereno Chapter #128 OES.

She is survived by two grandchildren, Cecilia William Calvin Black of McArthur and Richard Laurence Calvin of Portsmouth; five great grandchildren; Deidra Matthew Maerker Peterson of Jackson, Joshua Laurence Kayla Maerker of Hamden, Vanessa Calvin of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Cammie Josh Calvin Tewell of Hillsborough, North Carolina and Lesley Nathan Smith Calvin of Meridian, Idaho; four great great grandchildren, Joshua ""Alec"" Ray, Payton Anthony Speakman, Trase Aiden Speakman and Stella Mathilde Tewell; two brothers, Chester ""Ted"" McKibben of Norfolk Virginia and Albert Vernon McKibben of Canton and granddaughter-in-law, Christyne Will Calvin of McArthur.

In addition to her parents and husband, Celestia was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret Mae Douglas; three sisters, Hazel Morrison, Margaret Roebuck and Reba Wiggins and one brother, Robert McKibben.

Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Thursday, March 20, 2008 at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur. Interment will be in Athens Memory Gardens, Athens. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the services.
