Robert E. Covert

Robert E. Covert, 76, of Nelsonville, was carried home by his heavenly father, Tuesday, March 25, 2008. He was born September 18, 1931 in Athens County, son of the late Vernon Covert and Thelma Murphy Covert Ervin. He was married to Betty Jean Moreland Covert for 57 years.

Bob worked for several years at the Sylvania Plant and then for a short time at Logan Clay Products before he began working at the Yorde Machine Shop where he retired after 32 years. He was a member of The Plains Baptist Fellowship.

In addition to his wife, Betty, he is survived by a daughter, Pam Whittington of Pleasantville; a granddaughter, Lacey Fisk Cook of Lancaster; a grandson, Cory Fisk of Pleasantville; brothers, Darrell Covert of New Marshfield, Charles Florence Covert of Thornville, Dick Pat Covert of Nelsonville, David Covert of Nelsonville and Gary Jackie Covert of Pataskala; sisters, Dorothy Hilliard of Montpelier, Virginia Jim Brannon of Reedsville and Carolyn Burton of Chauncey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ted Covert and a sister, Mary Covert Klarke.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev. James McCamish officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call Friday from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
