Edith H. Campbell

Edith H. Campbell, 89, of Wilkesville, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, March 30, 2008, from Twin Maples Nursing Home in McArthur, where she moved on April 19, 2002. She was born April 24, 1918, in Pike County to the late B.E. and Lillie Crabtree. She graduated from Wilkesville High School in 1936 and on September 1, 1937, took the hand of Kent Campbell to be her devoted husband until his death in February of 1989.

Surviving are her three granddaughters, Bonnie Amstutz of Westerville, Penny Drenten of Baltimore and Edye Baker Bartholomew of Columbus; six great grandchildren, Alyson Amstutz, Matthew and Hilary Drenten, Patrick and Cody Kendig and Whitnee Tim Kendig Murray; son-in-law, James Baker of Anthem, Arizona; special friends, Don and Jane Ann Burns of Wilkesville and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Edith was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Jean Baker in May of 1973, four brothers, Darrell, Lloyd, I.B., and Adrian Crabtree; sister, Flossie Schilling and her brother-in-law, Eugene Campbell.

Edith guided her life by her Christian faith and was a loyal member of the Wilkesville United Methodist Church, where she was a certified Lay Speaker. She was active as a fifty year member of the Wilkesville Grange and as a charter member. Before moving to Wilkesville, she was a secretary and supervisor for Nationwide Insurance Company for 30 years.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Thursday, April 3, 2008 at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur with Pastor Penny Drenten officiating. Interment will be in Wilkesville Cemetery, Wilkesville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 5-7 P.M. and one hour prior to the services on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wilkesville Community Center, P.O. Box 167 Wilkesville, Ohio 45695 or the Wilkesville United Methodist Church, 120 South Mill Street, Wilkesville, Ohio 45695.
