Donald E. Evans

Donald E. Evans, 71, of Albany, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Doctors West Hospital in Columbus. He was born April 20, 1936 in Athens County, son of Mamie Woodrum Evans McGuire of The Plains and the late Dwight Evans. Donald was married for 48 years to Norma Jean Call Evans, who survives.

He retired from Verizon, was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a member of Christ Community Wesleyan Church, Albany.

In addition to his wife, Don is survived by two sons, Robert Poling of Nelsonville and Terry Terri Poling of Athens; two daughters, Brenda Waugh of The Plains and Christina Dave Bolin of Athens; eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, two infant children; one brother, Dale Evans and three sisters, Marie, Dixie and Sherry.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, April 7, 2008 at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Pastor Denver Doddrill officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
