Jeanette Barber, 81, of Nelsonville, passed away, Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home, The Plains. She was born November 7, 1926 in Nelsonville, the daughter of the late Oakley Wright and Mable Ray Hanning. She was the widow of the late Stephen R. Barber.
Jeanette was formerly employed at Hocking College, Maurer's Variety Store, the Majestic Theater and Orephum Theater. She volunteered at Doctor's Hospital for over 20 years and was a member of the American Legion Auxillary. She was a member of the Nelsonville First Christian Church and enjoyed antiquing and traveling.
She is survived by sons, Denis Barber and David Barber both of Nelsonville; grandchildren, Jocelyn Michelle Barber of Buchtel, Tyler Stephen Barber of Nelsonville and Emily Michelle Barber of Tennessee; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Vernon of Logan and Orpha Campbell of Columbus; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Barber of Murray City; many nieces, nephews and special friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Iva Mae Wright and brothers, Jack and William Hanning.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, April 14, 2008 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call Monday, from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
