Charles Edgar Hale

January 23, 1946 — April 30, 2008

Charles Edgar Hale departed this earth April 30th, after a courageous battle with cancer. At his bedside was loving wife of 42 years, Connie Graves Hale. Born January 23, 1946 in Risner, Kentucky to Willie and Allie Hale.

Charles was a 1964 graduate of McArthur High School where he excelled in basketball. He continued his basketball career at Elon College in North Carolina after serving in the Army. Charles was employed at the Kenworth Trucking Company of Chillicothe in the test department for 24 years where many valued friendships were made. Charles remained very involved in basketball throughout his life and was most recently the Assistant Coach of the VCHS Freshman boys' basketball team with his son.

Preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Robert and Anna Graves; daughter, Baby Hale; sister, Sarah Hale; brothers, Ellis James, Chris Allen and niece, Krisa Hale Smith.

In addition to his wife, Connie, Charles is survived by children, Stacie and Ed Mullins, Travis and Autumn Hale; granddaughter Madalyn Grace Hale; sisters, Wanda, Shirlene and Emma Walter; brothers, Wallace Jean, Marvin Paula, Gary Jeni, David Diane, Glen Judy and Billy Tammy; sister-in-law, Marlene and Bob Blake and many cherished nieces and nephews.

The family would like to also express thanks to the Hale and Blake families, the employees of Kenworth Trucking Company and the staff of the James Cancer Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Saturday, May 3, 2008, at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur with Tim Phipps officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur with military graveside services being conducted by the McArthur VFW Post #5299. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, from 4-8 P.M.
