Charles S. Mundy

Charles S. Mundy, 88, of Logan, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2008, at Logan Health Care Center, Logan. He was born January 24, 1920, in Hocking County, son of the late Edward and Mae C. Wright Mundy. Charles was married to Eloise Polling Mundy, who survives, for 52 years.

He was a WWII Army Veteran and a POW for 27 months, in Germany. He retired from Smead Manufacturing in Logan, in 1988, after 25 years of service. Charles worked at Jurgie's Sunoco for 17 years. He was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church, the Fairfield Barbwire Association AX-POW, and a Charter Member of the Logan Moose Lodge.

In addition to his wife Eloise, he is survived by two sons, Douglas S. Kelly Mundy of Logan and Thomas Mundy of Nelsonville; two daughters, Dianne Tracey of Howard, Ohio and Mary Ann Mundy of Logan; three grandchildren, Sarah, Mia and Carly Tracey; two step grandchildren, Joe and Kahla Zimmerman; special niece, April Smith; two brothers, Ralph Helen Mundy of Mansfield and Gerald Shirley Mundy of Logan and one sister, Kathryn Elick of Logan.

Charles was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, Harold and Derald Mundy and two sisters, Lillian Woltz and Zella Aurand.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Thursday, May 22, 2008, at the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Logan with Rev. Gerald Frazee officiating. Interment will be in Knollwood Cemetery, with military graveside services being conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard. Friends may call at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, on Wednesday, from 2-8 P.M. and on Thursday, one hour prior to the services at the church.
