Marcia Anna Moore, 92, of New Plymouth, passed away Monday, May 26, 2008, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in The Plains. She was born August 12, 1915, in Vinton County, daughter of the late James and Lillian Mae Blackford Harkless. Marcia was the widow of the late Benjamin Howard ""Curley"" Moore.
She retired form Goodyear in Logan, worked at The Fair Store in Nelsonville and also at the Dining Lodge at Lake Hope. She baked great pies and was known as the ""Pie Lady."" Marcia was an avid hand quilter and had one of her quilts displayed at the opening of the Dairy Barn in Athens.
She is survived by daughters, Carol Loper of Sciotoville and Kay Appel of Lucasville; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; Eleven great great grandchildren; sister, Josephine Wood of London, Ohio; several nieces and nephews and a special neighbor, Martin and Cindy Burley of New Plymouth, who helped her and are like family.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marcia was preceded in death by her daughter, Charlotte Bird; brothers, Wesley, James, Jesse, Lafe and Arthur Harkless and sisters, Ottie Evans, Lena Keeney, Mildred Gryder, Florence Harkless and Iva Harkless; son-in-law, Clarence Loper Jr. and a special nephew, Norman Moore.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Friday, May 30, 2008, at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 5-8 P.M.
