Oneil C. Peck Mowery

December 15, 1921 — June 5, 2008

Oneil C. ""Peck"" Mowery, 86, of Logan, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2008 at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster. He was born December 15, 1921 in Logan, son of the late Edwin Ghould and Alta Butts Mowery. He was married to Juanita Vernon Mowery, who survives.

Peck retired as a machinist from North American Rockwell after 38 years of service and was a WWII Army veteran. He landed on ""D"" Day, June 6, 1944, at Omaha Beach with the ""First Wave"" with the 500th Medical Collecting Company and served during the war as a Medic. Peck received four Bronze Stars. He was member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Mingo Lodge #171 F & A.M., Logan AMVETS, Nelsonville VFW, Nelsonville Elks, and American Legion in Lancaster.

He is survived by three sons, Stephen Marjorie Mowery, Robert Debbie Mowery, and Michael Ava Mowery all of Logan; six grandchildren, Dustin, Aaron, Josh, Mitchell, Justin and Scott; three great-grandchildren, Hunter, Kathleen and Braden; two brothers, Dale Nancy Mowery of Falbrooke, CA and Roger Jane Brown of Newark; a sister, Jeanie Fred Pennell of Marion, SC.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Glen Mowery.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, June 8, 2008 at Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan with Rev. Mark Daniels officiating. Interment will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Rockbridge, with Military Graveside Services being conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard. Friends may call Saturday 5-8 PM, with Masonic services being held at 7:30 PM and Sunday from noon until time of service with Elks Services being held at 1 P.M.
