Nellie L. Gates

Nellie L. Gates, 92, of McArthur, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2008, in Autumn Healthcare in Zanesville. She was born February 16, 1916, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, daughter of the late Roland and Dolly Duty. Nellie was the widow of the late Leo L. Gates.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in McArthur, Circle of Ruth and the Vinton County Senior Citizens Center.

Nellie is survived by a son, Roland ""Rick"" Brenda Gates of Waverly; daughter, Maryland Montevideo of San Juan Capistrano, California and three grandchildren, Matthew, John and Mike.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Roger Dale Gates and a sister, Edna Ruth.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Friday, June 13, 2008, at the First Christian Church, 207 E. High St., McArthur, with Pastor Steven Brown officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, on Thursday, from 6-8 P.M., and on Friday one hour prior to the services at the church.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Nellie L. Gates to the First Christian Church, 207 E. High St., McArthur, OH 45651.
