Donald E. Rodgers, 79, of Chauncey, passed away, Monday, June 9, 2008. He was born November 3, 1928 in Chauncey, son of the late Clement and Flossie Barnett Rodgers. He was married to Betty Lou Johnson Rodgers, who survives, for 54 years.

Don was a graduate of Chauncey-Dover High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Albany American Legion and was retired from ABEX Machine. He was formerly employed by a nursery in Columbus, North American Aviation, Bridgewater Machine and Herman's Machine.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Danny Layna Rodgers; three grandchildren, Lydia Rodgers, Lacey Rodgers and Danny Lee Rodgers Jr.; three great grandchildren, Ethan, Daisie and Sadie all of Chauncey; a brother, John ""Rudy"" Pam Rodgers of Athens; sisters, Marjorie Herb Fornash of Sherwood, Illinois, Ruth Howard Pritts of West LaFayette, Sonja Gary Bartlett of Chauncey, Mary Chuck Withers of Bridgeport, WV, and Virginia Claude Kantner of Albany; special nephew, James Wachenschwanz of Chauncey as well as many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Stevie Rodgers; a sister; Edith Quinn and brothers, Harold, Paul, Bill, Clem Jr. and Raymond Rodgers.

Funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Friday, June 13, 2008 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev. King Kelly officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville where a military graveside service will be conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit. Friends may call Thursday, June 12, 2008 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
