June Smith Cole

April 22, 1921 — June 15, 2008

June Smith Cole left this world on Fathers Day, June 15, 2008 to meet her Heavenly Father and her earthly father Harve. She was surrounded by her loving family. In addition to her father, Harve J. June was born on April 22, 1921, in the small community of Poston in Athens County Ohio. She attended Athens City Schools and graduated in 1939. She continued her education at Ohio University and was employed for a time by the University.

June was a woman of great faith and integrity and a friend to many. Her love for her family was boundless. Family and friends alike were drawn to share with her because she listened to them. She was an encourager to many.

Traveling was something that June enjoyed and she was blessed to visit many places. If given the opportunity to reside there, June may have made England's' Cotswolds her second home. She traveled to many places both here and abroad, but the hills of Athens County and Nelsonville held her heart, for they were her home.

June Smith married Lowell Cole on November 30, 1940. They were happily married for 68-years. June met Lowell during the early years of World War II. While Lowell pursued his career as a high school coach, June reluctantly accepted the long hours involved. As time went on, she became his biggest fan and champion of all of his teams. In fact, she was disappointed when he left coaching to become a school administrator, but she quickly adjusted.

She was the devoted grandmother to Brian Cole Stufflebean Laura, Amy Elizabeth Fronek Mike. Christopher Allen Stufflebean Erika, Holly Rebecca Robinson Joe, Rosa Ester Stufflebean, Anna Katherine Stufflebean, Lauryn Rebecca Lee Stufflebean, and Victoria Grace Stufflebean.
