Gerald M. Mellinger

Gerald M. Mellinger, 71, of Athens, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Logan. He was born September 27, 1936, in Nelsonville, son of the late William Bernard and Enid Elfa Burge Mellinger.

Gerald was a retired tire molder for Mansfield Tire and Rubber, an Army Veteran and a graduate of Buchtel High School.

He is survived by an aunt, Helen Christian of Mansfield; cousin, David Christian of Mansfield; brother, Jerry ""Ike"" Lynda Mellinger of Logan; nephews, William Bernard Mellinger, Jerry, Matthew, Christopher and Tyler Mellinger and Terri David Smith and a great nephew and niece, Dillon Mellinger and Kenley Mellinger.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Lee and Bill Mellinger and a sister, Doris Brown.

Gerald's wishes were to be cremated. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville.
