Stanley L. Mitchell

Stanley L. Mitchell, 73, of McArthur, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008 at his residence. He was born January 19, 1935, in Vinton County, son of the late Claude and Nettie Dowel Mitchell. Stanley is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bertha Lee Keesee Mitchell. The couple was married May 19, 1954.

Stanley is survived by two sons, Tom Mitchell and Bill Lori Mitchell, both of McArthur; five daughters, Jackie Steve Scarberry of McArthur, Effie Roger Wilbur of Hamden, Cindy Mitchell of Hamden, Dee Mike Murphy of McArthur and Jennifer Mitchell of McArthur and a grandson who he raised, Jeffery Mitchell of Dayton; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and one brother, Emmett Mitchell of Indiana.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

He was a retired coal miner and attended Prattsville Community Church.

Private graveside services will be held Monday, July 21, 2008 in the Mitchell Family Cemetery, with Pastor Donald Lamb officiating. No calling hours will be observed. Arrangements are by Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur.
