Verna A. Lower

Verna A. Lower, 82, of Nelsonville, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Zusman Community Hospice in Columbus. She was born August 15, 1925, in Nelsonville, daughter of the late Orlando and Myra Millholland. Verna was married for over 60 years to Robert G. Lower, who survives.

She was a receptionist for Dr. Roger Johnson for 29 years, a member of the First Christian Church in Nelsonville and Mt. St. Mary's Hospital Twig #7. Verna was an avid reader, enjoyed taking walks and sitting on her porch visiting with her neighbors. She was at her happiest when she was surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Verna is survived by sons, Bill R. Lower of Nelsonville and Chris G. LuAnn Lower of San Diego, California; daughter, Kathy A. Lawrence Morman of Delaware and four grandchildren, Lisa Nile Smith, Eric Fudge, Daniel Lower and Michael Lower.

Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev. Karen Walters officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 6-8 P.M.
