Harold L. Mourn

Harold L. ""Wimpy"" Mourn, 72, of The Plains, passed away Friday, August 1, 2008, at his residence. He was born February 10, 1936, in Athens County, son of the late Earl and Mary Kimes Mourn. Harold was married for 52 years to Janet Rutter Mourn, who survives.

He was a Buchtel High School graduate and a well known truck driver and heavy equipment operator in the area for many years.

In addition to his wife, Harold is survived by sons, Harold Mourn of The Plains, Michael Sylvia Mourn of Sugar Grove and Jerry Tiffanie Mourn of Columbus; daughters, Janalee Bill Stanton Mourn of Houston, Texas, Jennifer Steven Coon of The Plains and Michelle Melvin Hall of New Straitsville; two special nephews, Harold Wayne Susan Burns, who was raised in the home as one of Harold's sons, of Athens and Jim Bev Rutter of The Plains; twelve grandchildren, Monica Mourn, Jacob Coon and Justin Coon of The Plains, Tyler Mourn, Derrick Martin and Anna Fuller of Sugar Grove, Sophia Mourn of Columbus, Carroll Ann Stanton of Houston, Texas, CJ, Shelby, Kaitlin and Dalton Hall of New Straitsville; brother, Jerry Michael Paula Burns Mourn of Nelsonville; sisters, Dorothy Chenoweth of Dublin, Bernadine Hanning of Buchtel, Beverly Mellinger of Nelsonville, Betty Glancy of Reynoldsburg and Linda Ray McVay of Columbus; sisters-in-law, Sue Zuene of Pataskala and Pam Mourn of Nelsonville; brother-in-law Ralph Lindsey of Massillon; several nieces and nephews and his beloved dogs, Scrappy and Scotty.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Hazel Mourn, Norma Jean Wingfield, and Evelyn ""Webb"" Lindsey and brothers, Charles ""Chuff"" Mourne, and Richard Mourne.

Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Jo Weston officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Harold's many special friends, Appalachian Community Hospice and Dr. Singh and his staff for their assistance and care during his illness.
