Bill Whitlatch, 57, of Nelsonville, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2008, at his residence. He was born July 30, 1951, in Nelsonville, son of the Norma Talbert Hammond of Athens and the late Billie Whitlatch. Bill was married to Jody Bentley Whitlatch, who survives.
He was employed at Hocking College. Bill was a member of the Ohio Education Association, the Athens County Bass Masters, FLW Outdoors, Ohio Bass Federation and a Life Member of B.A.S.S.. He was a legendary guitarist and an avid fisherman.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by sons, Derreck Vanya Whitlatch of Chicago, Illinois and Jordan Whitlatch of Scottsdale, Arizona; daughters, Ashley Ben Fenley of Portland, Oregon, Jaime Whitlatch of Logan and Lacey Whitlatch of Nelsonville; his dog, Shady; brother, Dennis Whitlatch of Athens; sister, Linda Cooksey of Athens and stepfather, Lewis Hammond of Athens.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Dick Cooksey.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Wednesday, August 20, 2008, in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev. Mike Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery New Addition. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 4-8 P.M.
