BERNARD CHARLES WOOD ANSEL

Bernard Charles Wood Ansel, 88, Lancaster, formerly of Logan, passed away August 15, 2008 at Rockmill Rehabilitation Centre.

He was born May 21, 1920 in Marion Township, Hocking County, Ohio, son of the late William Harlan Ansel and Elizabeth Poling Ansel. He was married to Ada ""June"" Ansel, who predeceased him on April 18, 2003.

Bernard served in World War II with Patton's Division and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a Life Member of Disabled American Veterans. Bernard was an accomplished self-taught musician, who played the fiddle, mandolin, guitar and banjo and enjoyed his ""Country Music"".

Bernard is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Melinda Ansel, sister, Janet Ronald Stivison, nieces, Nancy Hoffman, Sharon Tim Shuttleworth, Marilyn Robert Weimer, Barbara Jim Spackey, nephews, Dennis Erma Hartman, Curtis Diane Stivison, Jeff Donna Stivison, Jim Janet Stivison, Randy Lois Stivison, and Larry Angie Stivison, and their children and grandchildren. Also special friends, Robert and Mary Daubenmire, Pam Brown, and Bernard's special ""granddaughter"" Maggie Johnston, her parents Kelly and Debbie, and all the former neighbors on Barton Street in Logan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and his sisters, Alta Emmajean ""Jean"" Nutter, Belva Marie Hartman and Clara Rosella Ansel.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan with the Rev. Brian Arnold officiating. Interment will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Rockbridge.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The family suggest contributions be made to FairHoPe Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 282 Sells Road, Lancaster, Ohio, 43130.

A very special thanks to all the staff and residents at Rockmill Rehabilitation Centre for the care and friendship to ""Bernie"" during his stay.
