Zelma Louise Smith

Zelma Louise Smith, 84, of Creola, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at her residence. She was born November 14, 1923, in Vinton County, daughter of the late Charles and Etta McKnight Boring. Zelma was the widow of the late Everett C. Smith Sr.

She was the Transportation Coordinator for the Vinton County Senior Citizens Center.

Zelma is survived by sons, Everett Mary Lou Smith Jr. and Daniel Joanie Smith of Jackson; daughters, Sherry Faulkner of Creola, Loretta Tom Faris of Creola, Judith Lambert of McArthur, Valerie Earl Downard of Hamden, Rochelle Ralph Kille of New Plymouth, Barbara Dave Borah of Bremen, Amy Mander Isaac of New Plymouth and Amber Scott Sexton of Creola; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; sister, Mary Acord of Creola; sister-in-law, Anna DeVries of Montrose, Colorado; special friend, Lisa McManis and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard Allen Smith; brothers, Clarence, Russell and Charles Boring, grandchildren, David Huck Faris, Matthew, Jennifer and Joseph Isaac and a great grandson, Nathaniel Faulkner.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Monday, October 6, 2008 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Pastor David L. Peoples officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, from 4-8 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in memory of Zelma Smith to the Vinton County Senior Citizens Center, PO Box 481, McArthur, Ohio 45651.
