Katherine E. Kelly Cates

Katherine E. ""Kelly"" Cates, 86, of Zaleski, passed away Monday, October 13, 2008 at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens. She was born August 22, 1922, in New York, daughter of the late Lewis Burcham and Jennie Felisina Williams. Kelly was the widow of the late Lee Roy Cates Sr.

She was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Zaleski, the Red Hat Society in McArthur and was a former member of Backup Stars.

Kelly is survived by two sons, Lee R. Sharon Cates Jr. of McArthur and Robert C. Kathy Cates of Florida; two grandchildren, Scott Kelly Cates of Chillicothe and Kelly Mark Jackson of Kansas; four great grandchildren, Adam and Emily Meyers and Sydney and Isaac Cates; a brother, Cecil Williams of New Jersey; two sisters, Doris Otten of Missouri and Diana Zimbardo of New York and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Williams and a sister, Grace Steuber.

Funeral mass will be held 10:30 A.M., Friday, October 17, 2008 at St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Zaleski with Father Joseph Trapp and Father Richard Engle officiating. Interment will be in St. Sylvester Catholic Cemetery, Zaleski. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, on Thursday, from 4-8 P.M.
