Carl W. Johnson

Carl W. Johnson, 70, of Nelsonville, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Doctors Hospital Nelsonville. He was born August 26, 1938 in Nelsonville, the son of the late Clarence and Vaundell Sampsill Johnson.

Carl was a retired Iron Worker with Union Local 172. He was a member of the Nelsonville VFW Post #3467 Men's Auxiliary and loved spending time with his grandchildren, playing horseshoes, squirrel hunting and bluegrass music.

Carl is survived by his companion of 23 years, Bev Chaney; children, Vickie Mike Durst of Cottageville, West Virgina, Brian Gena Johnson, Andrea Darin Trippier and Michael Jessie Johnson all of Nelsonville; brothers, Bob Marchetta Johnson of Nelsonville, Clyde Nancy Johnson of Logan, and Denver Sue Johnson of Nelsonville; sisters, Marilyn Johnson of Logan, Patty Howson of New Marshfield and Delores Storts of Nelsonville, sister-in-law Mary Johnson of Nelsonville; brother-in-law, Bob Martin of New Plymouth, special friend, Beans Johnson of Nelsonville, many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Don, James ""Junior"", Arthur ""Dutch"" and Jack Johnson and a sister Darlene Martin.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette Street, Nelsonville. Interment will be at Asbury Cemetery, Starr Twp., Hocking Co. Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
