Charles John Henley, 85, of McArthur, passed away Friday, November 7, 2008 at Arcadia Acres Nursing Home, in Logan. He was born December 3, 1922, in Comfort, West Virginia, son of the late Clarence and Lottie Payne Henley. Charles was married to Dorothy White Henley, who survives.
He retired from Abex Engineering in Elyria, Ohio, was a WWII Navy Veteran, a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1055 in Ravenna, Ohio and a member of the Locust Grove United Methodist Church.
Charles is survived by a stepson, James Pat Hysell of McArthur; a grandson whom he raised, David A. Carrol; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Henley of Shreve, Ohio and Gene Henley of St. Albans, West Virginia and two sisters, Opal Kuhn of Winfield, West Virginia and Linda Schultzer of Huston, Texas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Truman, Opie and Billy Henley and four sisters, Lena May Foster, Ruby Green, Delores McDougler and Odessa Henley.
Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Tuesday, November 11, 2008, in the Locust Grove United Methodist Church, Creola, with Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery with Military Graveside Services being conducted by the McArthur VFW Post #5299. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur on Monday, from 6-8 P.M. and on Tuesday, at the church from 12 noon until the time of service.
