Gene A. Garren

Gene A. Garren, 71, of Logan, passed away November 22, 2008 at his residence. He was born September 17, 1937, in Heights, West Virginia, son of the late Kenneth and Elizabeth Williams Garren. Gene was married to Audrey Lindsey Garren, who survives.

He was a retired machinist at Metal Container Corporation in Columbus, a Navy Veteran, a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Carbon Hill Water Association. Gene entered the Mason's at East Gate Lodge #603 on December 4, 1973, transferred to Sunrise Lodge #783 and later to Mingo Lodge #171 in Logan Ohio. He later served as Master of Mingo Lodge during the 2006 year. Gene was a member of the 32' Degree Scottish-Rite Masons – Valley of Columbus since December 1995 and served as an Ambassador for the Fraternal Relations Unit of Scottish Rite in Hocking County. He was a member of the Aladdin Shriner's of Columbus, Ohio where he received a Meritorious Service Award for the year 2005. He was also a member of the Hocking Hills Shrine Club in Logan where he served as President during 2005.

Gene is survived by sons, Mike Sarah Garren and Matthew Garren all of Logan; a daughter, Terrie Eggers of Columbus; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, William Joann Garren of Obetz; a sister, Betty Doug Tomes of Huntington, West Virginia and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard, Kenneth Jr. and Charles Garren and a sister, Kathleen Adkins.

Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Wednesday, November 26, 2008 in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan with Rev. Brian Arnold officiating. Interment will be in Carbon Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. with a Masonic service being held at 7:30 P.M.
