John E. Courtney

John E. Courtney, 69, of Union Furnace, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at his residence. He was born October 12, 1939, in Licking County, son of the late Fred R. and Florence K. Mount Courtney.

He was an Army veteran, a member of the Logan Amvets, Eagles and VFW. John recently rededicated his life to the Lord.

He is survived by sons, David Pamela Kilkenny of Union Furnace, Mark Betty Wyzykowski Kilkenny of Logan and Robbie Melissa Courtney of Carbon Hill; daughters, Rebecca Larry Reynolds of Sugar Grove and Joanna Steven Carpenter of Logan; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; life long companion, Beatrice Courtney; brothers, Doug Courtney of Union Furnace, Russell Courtney of Rockbridge, Jerry Courtney of Union Furnace and Tom Courtney of Jacksonville and sisters, Mary Davis of Union Furnace, Pearl Kearns of Nelsonville and Wanda Mohler of Rockbridge.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two grandchildren and an infant sister.

Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Saturday, November 29, 2008 in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan with Rev. Randy Hardman officiating. Interment will be in Shaw Cemetery with military graveside services being conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M.

The family suggests contributions be made to the John Courtney fund at the Citizens Bank to help with expenses.
