Roscoe Napier Jr.

October 19, 1929 — December 1, 2008

Roscoe Napier Jr., 79, of Piedmont, Alabama and Nelsonville, Ohio, passed away, Monday, December 1, 2008 at the Gadsden Regional Medical Center, Gadsden, Alabama. He was born October 19, 1929 in Ranger, WV, son of the late Roscoe Sr. and Delana Wiley Napier. He was married to Betty Howard Napier of Piedmont, Alabama, who survives.

Roscoe graduated from Guyan Valley High School in West Hamlin, West Virginia and attended Morehead State University and The Ohio State University. He retired from the United States Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant after 33 ½ years of service. He then was employed at OSU as a building and maintenance manager and invested in real estate. Roscoe was a diehard Republican. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by daughters, Robin Napier of Dublin, Jeannie Dye of Piedmont, AL; son, Rockie Carolyn Napier of Columbus, Donnie Sharon Dye of Parkersburg, WV, Richard Gayla Dye of Washington, DC; daughter-in-law, Lisa Napier of Columbus; grandchildren, Carmen Napier, Chrissy Johny Wilson, Jackie Ashmus, David Hegarty, Wendy Jason Engler, Jolene Napier, Marissa Nick Garst, Betsy David Erikson, Mandy Joel Harris, Emily, Faith and Jacob Dye; brothers, Paul Judy Napier and Buddy Joy Napier both of Zaleski; sisters, Callie Hal Ray Smith of Ranger, WV and Onie Zell Fields of Freetown, IN and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Rickie Napier and Jody Dye; and brothers, Pat, Arthur and Aadron Napier.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Pastor Bill Hixson officiating. Interment will be at Napier Cemetery, Ranger, WV. Friends may call Friday, December 5, 2008 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
