Leonard Allen Mays

August 16, 1948 — December 7, 2008

Leonard Allen Mays, 60, of Carbon Hill, passed away, Sunday, December 7, 2008 at his residence. He was born August 16, 1948 in Hocking County, son of the late Phillip and Audrey Beal Mays.

Leonard was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retired supervisor at Goodyear, Logan. He graduated from Nelsonville-York High School and was a life member of Nelsonville VFW Post 3467 and Logan Amvets Post 1776.

He is survived by a son, Dwayne Mays of Carbon Hill; brothers, Dale Mays of Carbon Hill and Robert Mays of Barberton; sisters, Betty Howdyshell, Opal Beaver and Sharon Hooper all of Columbus, Mildred Lender and Barbara Deutch both of Pennsylvania and Dota Thompson of Logan; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Charles, Dan and Larry Mays and two infant sisters.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Pastor David Cogar officiating. Interment will be at Carbon Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday, December 9, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Hocking Co. Color Guard Unit.
