Ruth A. Prater

Ruth A. Prater, 78, of Hamden, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens. She was born June 5, 1930, in Prattsville, Ohio, daughter of the late Elmer and Carrie Dearth Allman. Ruth was married for 60 years to James B. Prater Jr., who survives.

She was a member of the McArthur Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by a son, Bruce Brenda Prater of Hamden; four grandchildren, Essalona Erik Keller, Aaron Jessica Prater, Bridgett Prater and Corey Nichole Clevinger; six great grandchildren, Darrick and Tyra Prater, Dylan and Abbigail Keller, Kaelyn Clevinger and Ethan Perry; a sister, Bernice Daugherty of McArthur and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by a daughter, Paulette Hensler; a son, Mark Hensler Prater; two brothers, Franklin and Floyd Allman; a sister, Georgia Ferguson and a son-in-law, Terry Hensler.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Friday, December 12, 2008 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Minister Danny Minton officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 6-8 P.M. with a McArthur Eagles Ladies Auxiliary service at 7:30.
