Grover William Bill Sowers

Grover William ""Bill"" Sowers, 68, of McArthur, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2008 at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus. He was born December 23, 1940 in Vinton County son of the late Roy William Sowers and Margaret Marie Cotterman Sowers of McArthur. Bill was married to Billie Jean Brown Sowers, who survives.

He retired from Buckeye Automatic where he was a machine operator for forty years and an Army Veteran. Bill was a member of the United Auto Workers Association, the McArthur VFW and Eagles, the Wild Turkey Federation and the National Rifle Association.

In addition to his wife and mother, Bill is survived by a son, Grover William Sowers II of McArthur; three daughters, Kimberly Paul Augustine of Union Kentucky, Barbara Jean Steven Hammond of McArthur and Ellen Clay Moore of McArthur; ten grandchildren, Shawn, Nick, Alyssa, Kelsey, Caleb, Blake Emily, Logan, Bailey and Adam; four brothers, Jim, Doug, Jeff and Bret; one sister, Beverly and several nieces and nephews.

Bills requests were to be cremated. Memorial services will be held Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the Allensville Church of Christ in Christian Union, from 2 to 4 P.M. Arrangements are by Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in memory of Grover William ""Bill"" Sowers be made to Shooting Sports c/o Vinton County 4-H, PO Box 473, McArthur, Ohio 45651.
