Florence Virginia Forbes

Florence Virginia Forbes, 90, of Nelsonville, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Logan Health Care Center in Logan. She was born October 7, 1918, in Buchtel, daughter of the late William and Caroline Smathers Carpenter. Florence was the widow of the late Edward Forbes, they were married for 41 years.

She retired after 37 years of service from Brooks Shoe Company and was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Queen Esther Class.

Florence is survived by daughters, Carolyn Gene Crane of Logan, Joyce John Burns of The Plains and Sandra Coen; grandchildren, Doug Gabby Crane, Terri Jerry Cunningham, Jonna Burns, Jayne Mike Hobbs, Jason Becky Coen and Jeremy Coen; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great grandson, Curt Phillips; brothers, John, Earl, Ralph, Charles, Eugene and George Carpenter, Clarence and Bill Wade and sisters, Audrey Carpenter, Emma Vess and Ethel Rollins.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Wednesday, January 7, 2009 in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev. Karen Walters officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 5-8 P.M.
