John W. Bill Harper

John W. ""Bill"" Harper, 82, of McArthur, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at the VA Medical Center in Chillicothe. He was born July 23, 1926 in Hamden, son of the late Clifford Lee and Anna Belle Oberholzer Harper. Bill was married for 60 years to Ruth Eloise Ray Harper, who survives.

He was a retired Professional Truck Drive, a WWII Army Veteran and Commander of the McArthur VFW Post 5299.

In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by a daughter, Joyce Edward Fout of McArthur; a grandson, Bruce Fout of Creola; great grandson, Bruce E. Fout of McArthur; two great granddaughters, Mandy Young of Hamden and Nikki Connolly of Racine; two brothers, Richard Harper of Chillicothe and Howard Harper of McArthur and a sister, Gladys Bowman of Copley, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a great granddaughter, Jennifer Fout.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, January 31, 2009 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, will Pastor Ferrell Rood officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur, with military graveside services being conducted by the McArthur VFW Post 5299. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, from 6-8 P.M.
