Bill Wend, 60, of Nelsonville, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at The Ohio State Medical Center, Columbus. He was born August 13, 1948 in Nelsonville, son of the late Rusty and Eeny Hughes Wend. He was married to Susan Dearth Wend, who survives.

Bill was the owner and operator of Sanborn Vending in Nelsonville. He was a member of the Nelsonville-York School Board and was a former 14 year member of the Nelsonville City Council, serving two terms as Mayor. He was a member of the Nelsonville Rotary Club, Nelsonville Chamber of Commerce and the Nelsonville Elks Lodge #543.

In addition to his wife, Susan, he is survived by a daughter, Tiffany Steve Mace of Nelsonville; grandchildren, Lexi and Sean Mace; brother, John Carol Wend of Chillicothe; sisters, Margie Mike Jonas Wend of Nelsonville, Janey Todd Boney of Nelsonville and Mary Gabriel of Nelsonville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Teresa Dearth of Buchtel, Doug and Margie Dearth of Lancaster, Cliff Dearth of Nelsonville, Gabriel Lisa Coss of Grandview and Michelle Wend of Nelsonville; special cousins, Rich and Lori Kimble of Somerset; nieces and nephews, Josh and McKenzie Walter of Nelsonville, Doug Chelsea Dearth of Nelsonville, Donson Dearth of Lancaster, Corbin Boney of Nelsonville and Patrick Coss of Tennessee.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, February 23, 2009 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev. Ernie Perkins officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call Saturday, February 21, 2009 from 6-8 PM, Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and Monday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The Wend family suggests that memorial contributions in Bill's memory be made to the Nelsonville High School Alumni Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 472, Nelsonville, Ohio 45764.
