Raymond A. ""Butch"" Owings Sr., 59, of McArthur, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born August 7, 1949 in McArthur, son of Joan Castor Owings of McArthur and the late George A. Owings.
Butch was employed at Austin Powder for 39 years, was a member of the McArthur Eagles AERIE #2279 and was an avid golfer.
He is survived by three sons, Raymond ""Butchie"" Owings Jr., Bryan Owings and Richard ""Ricky"" Owings all of McArthur; one daughter, Pam Earl Jarvis of Ray, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Megan, Adam, Mallory, Austin, Alex, Caitlyn, Bryce Sara and Abbey; two brothers, Dave Cindy Owings of Richmondale and Rick Kathy Owings of McArthur; four sisters, Ruth Ann Thacker of McArthur, Bonnie Richard Hellman of Jackson, Maggie Dave Sowers of McArthur and GeorgeAnn Clark of New Plymouth; his companion, Hazel Frisby of McArthur; several nieces and nephews and his former wife, Karen Owings of McArthur.
In addition to his father, Butch was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Owings.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Thursday, March 12, 2009 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur with Pastor Jim Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Vinton County. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 5-8 P.M. where a McArthur Eagles AERIE #2279 service will be conducted at 7:30 P.M.
