Foster Monroe Bumgardner

Foster Monroe Bumgardner, 84, of Hamden, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born October 10, 1924 in Dorton, Kentucky, son of Tina Elkins Bumgardner of Hamden and the late John Bumgardner. Foster was the widower of the late Faye Hamilton Bumgardner.

He was a retired crane operator, a WWII Army Veteran, a member of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Wellston and a lifetime member of the McArthur VFW Post #5299 and the McArthur Eagles AERIE #2279.

Foster is survived by two sons, Michael David Kathe Bumgardner of Southgate, Michigan and Gary Monroe Nancy Bumgardner of McArthur; six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; two brothers, William James Bumgardner of Grayland, Washington and Ralph Bumgardner of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and sisters, Vivian Taylor of Brownstown, Michigan, Anna Vanover of Farmington Hills, Michigan, Loraine Little of Huron Township, Michigan and Judy Hamilton of Hamden.

In addition to his father and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Bumgardner.

Funeral Mass will be held 2:30 P.M., Friday, March 20, 2009 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 227 South New York Avenue, Wellston, with Father Don Maroon officiating. Interment will be in Hixon Cemetery, Hamden, with military graveside services being conducted by the McArthur VFW Post #5299.. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, on Thursday, from 3-8 P.M. where a scripture service will be held at 6 P.M.
