Harold D. Prater

Harold D. Prater, 74, of Hamden, passed away Monday, April 20, 2009 at his residence. He was born February 28, 1935, in Pike County, Kentucky, son of the late Perry and Bessie Prater. Harold was married for 48 years to Minnie Coleman Prater, who survives.

He retired from Austin Powder after 46 years of service and was a member and past Deacon of Maggie's Home Church in Dundas.

In addition to his wife, Harold is survived by four sons, Larry Donna Prater of McArthur, Daniel Carol Anne Prater of McArthur, Keith Ella Prater of Dundas and Matthew Deven Prater of Dundas; five grandchildren, Larry Dean Prater Jr., Shawn Christopher Prater, Sarah Nicole Prater, Grace Emily Prater and Payton Nicole Prater; a great grandson, Colton Ray Prater; two brothers, Charles Ed Edith Prater of Akron and Luster Lois Prater of McArthur; a sister, Bonnie Adkins of Greasy Creek, Kentucky and special friends, Jayln Fain, Megan Brown, Josh Ray, Kayla, Victoria, Adriana, Ryan and Tessa Prater.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant grandson, Matthew Ryan Prater; two brothers, Dennis Ray Prater and James Gillin Prater and a stepsister, Bobbi Jean Ramsey.

Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Friday, April 24, 2009 at Maggie's Home Church in Dundas. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, on Wednesday, from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. and on Thursday, at Maggie's Home Church after 10 A.M. until the time of the service on Friday.
