Pastor Garrison E. Rice

Pastor Garrison E. Rice, 74, of Laurelville, passed away Friday, April 24, 2009 at his residence. He was born August 8, 1934 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania, son of the late Augustus and Florence Snyder Rice. Pastor Rice was married to Martha Glass Rice, who survives.

He is the Pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Lancaster, the past President of The American Council of Christian Churches of Ohio, the past President of The Baptist Christian School Board of Cleveland and served as Secretary and Faculty Member of The Baptist Bible Institute of Cleveland. Pastor Rice pastured Grace Chapel in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, Bible Baptist Church in Bedford, Ohio, Northwest Bible Church in Hilliard, Ohio and Faith Baptist Church in Lancaster.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Stephen Marcia Rice of Grove City and Timothy Nicole Rice of Delaware, Ohio; a daughter, Joylene James DeCarlo of Rockford, Illinois; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Dennis Rice of Ephrata, Pennsylvania and Gerald Rice of Dixon, Tennessee and a sister, Beverly Minnick of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Private graveside services will be held in Knollwood Cemetery, Logan. A memorial service will be held 4 P.M., Monday, April 27, 2009 at Calvary Baptist Church, 1910 Marietta Rd. N.E., Lancaster, Ohio 43130.

The family suggests contributions be made to The Mission Program of Faith Baptist Church, 2205 Lancaster Circleville Rd. S.E., Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
