Beloved husband and father, Fred Brown, 71, of McArthur passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009. He was born April 4, 1938, in Hillsboro, Ohio, son of the late Evan and Lillie Newman Brown. Fred is survived by his wife of 45 years, Imogene Baker Brown.
He is the Superintendent of the Vinton County Highway Department and attended Harkins Chapel Church. Fred was loved and respected by all who knew him and will be sadly missed.
In addition to his wife, Fred is survived by two sons, George Tassie Brown and Jeff Hillary Lafferty Brown both of McArthur; two daughters, Loretta Barnett of South Bloomingville and Lillian Drew Sater Brown of Logan; seven grandchildren, Josh, Jason, Kyle, Rylee, Carsyn, Keaton and Bryce; two great grandchildren, Alyvia and Cadence; two sisters, Virginia Gearheart of McDowell, Kentucky and Donna Wayne Willis of McMinnville, Oregon; three half brothers, Garry, Perry and Charlie Brown of East McDowell, Kentucky; a half sister, Rebecca Harrison of Zanesville; Uncle, Harve Jackie Newman of McArthur and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, May 9, 2009 in the Harkins Chapel Church with Rev. Randall Minton and Minister Danny Minton officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur on Friday, from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. and on Saturday, one hour prior to the services at the church.
