Preston L. Hamon

Preston L. Hamon, 73, of McArthur, passed away Friday, July 10, 2009 in the VA Medical Center in Chillicothe. He was born April 20, 1936 in Advent, West Virginia, son of the late Robert N. and Hazel A. Covey Hamon. Preston was married to Roberta Young Hamon, who survives.

Preston has been a barber since 1959 and just retired in December of 2008. He was a Navy Veteran, a member of the McArthur Eagles and a member of the McArthur VFW.

He is survived by sons, Mark P. Lorrie Hamon of Wellston and Steven D. Lori Hamon of McArthur; four grandchildren, Conner, Cameron, Brock and Chelsie Hamon; brothers, Robert Hamon of Port Clinton, Ohio, Gary Hamon of Rutland and Randy Hamon of Athens and sisters, Betty Kirby of Hamden, Doris Speigel of Columbus and Norma Jean of Kentucky.

In addition to his parents, Preston was preceded in death by three sisters.

Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Tuesday, July 14, 2009 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur with Pastor Carl Radcliff officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur with military graveside services being conducted by the McArthur VFW Post #5299. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 5-8 P.M.
