Eileen A. Burchfield

Eileen A. Burchfield, 90, of Nelsonville, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Logan Health Care Center in Logan. She was born October 4, 1918, in Athens County, daughter of the late Wayne and Jennie Huddy Bumgardner. Eileen was the widow of the late Dale Burchfield.

She was a 1936 graduate of Nelsonville High School, a member of the Nelsonville First United Methodist Church and a life member of The Plains VFW Auxiliary.

Eileen is survived by a son, Max A. Carolyn Burchfield of Longs, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Stephanie Wes Strong, Matthew Burchfield, Leah Dave Davarro, Tony Burchfield and Molly Randy Woolum; nine great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; a sister, Ann Nixon of Nelsonville; sister-in-law, Virgie Bumgardner of Nelsonville; daughter-in-law, Mary Burchfield of The Plains and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John Burchfield one brother and three sisters.

Graveside services will be held 2 P.M., Sunday, July 12, 2009 in Connett Cemetery, Nelsonville with Rev. Karen Walters officiating. No calling hours will be observed. Arrangements are by Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville.
