Luther W. Luke Mowery

Luther W. ""Luke"" Mowery, 87, of Logan, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2009 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He was born October 2, 1921, in Logan, son of the late Fred E. and Ola Helber Mowery. Luke was married for 65 years to Blanche Fickel Mowery, who survives.

He retired from Carborundum and along with his father, owned and operated Mowery Garage. Luke was a WWII Veteran of the Army Air Corp., was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and was a member of the Logan American Legion.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, William F. Mowery of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a daughter, Suzanne Stock of Columbus; grandchildren, Teresa S. Robert Heubner, Heidi B. Kuennen, Heather L. B.J. Fleming, Shawn Krista Stock and Stefanie Trent Sheridan; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Leroy E Mowery of Lancaster and a sister, Mona Myers of Logan.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Mowery and a sister, Paulene Dennis.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Thursday, August 20, 2009 in St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 258 E. Hunter Street, Logan, with Pastor Mark Daniels officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan, with military graveside services being conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard. Friends may call at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan on Wednesday, from 2-4 P.M. and 7-9 P.M. and on Thursday, on hour prior to the services at the church.

The family suggests contributions be made in memory of Luther W. ""Luke"" Mowery, to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 258 E. Hunter Street, Logan, Ohio 43138.
