Ida Mae Phillips Stoneburner

Ida Mae Phillips Stoneburner, 96, of Mt. Victory, formerly of Glouster, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at her daughters' residence. She was born September 16, 1912, in Bishopville, Ohio, daughter of the late William and Gertrude Stanley Jewell.

She retired from Ohio University as a cook after 20 years and was a member of the Oakdale Church of Christ. Ida started the Glouster Depot Project, was a member of the 3 Star Senior Center and was dedicated to the betterment of the community.

Ida is survived by sons, David Judy Phillips of Pickerington and Ralph Marie Phillips of Fayetteville, North Carolina; daughters, Sharma Bob Weedy of Logan, Sharon Fairclough of Glouster and Gertrude Jerry Fraber of Mt. Victory; twenty-six grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Darrell and Billy Phillips; seven brothers, Bill, Ralph, Louis, Thomas, Darewood, Frank and Jack Jewell and four sisters, Kathryn Champlin, Lena Vaughn, Helen Love and Louise Vaughn.

Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Monday, August 24, 2009 in the Glouster Church of Christ with Rev. John Wright officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster. Friends may call on Sunday, at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 30 Main St., Glouster, from 2-6 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in memory of Ida Mae Stoneburner, to The Glouster Library, 20 Toledo Street, Glouster, Ohio 45732.
