Kelsie Keith Lanning Sr.

Kelsie Keith Lanning Sr., age 65, of Nelsonville. He was preceded in death by his father; Fred Lanning and son, Adam Lanning.

Surviving are his mother, Kathryn Mills Lanning; sons, Kelsie Keith Jr. and Derrick Lanning all of Nelsonville; a daughter, Cyndi Lanning of Glendale, California; brothers, Fred Lanning of St. Louis, MO. and Thomas Clyde Lanning of Ft. Myers, Florida; granddaughters, Loren and Destiny Lanning; uncles, Ernest and Joe Lanning of The Plains; an aunt, Mary Prence of Dublin; good friends, Hope and Paula of Parkersburg, West Virginia and ALberta Bert of Ironton.

He attended Union Furnace and Nelsonville Elementary Schools and was a graduate of Nelsonville High School. He served in the US Air Force and Vietnam War. He was a faithful and active member of the Knights of Pythias K of P since high school.

Kelsie loved his hometown of Nelsonville and never wanted to live far from the Hocking Valley.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Wednesday, August 26, 2009 in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Pastor Mike Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, with military graveside services being conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 4-8 P.M.
