Larry A. Burns, 64, joined his Father in Heaven on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Doctors Hospital West in Columbus. He was born September 2, 1944, in Vinton County, son of Juanita Jeffers Burns of Wilkesville and the late Robert ""Mose"" Burns. Larry was married to Christine Vanderkooi Burns, who survives.

He was a Vietnam Army Veteran, earning a Silver Star, a Purple Heart and was decorated by the House of Representatives. Larry was a member of the Wilkesville First Presbyterian Church, the Wilkesville Masonic Lodge, the Albany VFW and was a life member of the Amvets.

In addition to his mother and wife, Larry is survived by daughters, Tammy Ned Kowaleski of Grove City and Tracey Mark Wegman of Galloway; grandchildren, Nathan, Nicholas and Nolan Kowaleski and Joshua and Taylor Wegman; brothers, Charlie, Dean, Bill, Butch, Dick, Don, Mike and Jim Burns; sisters, Sue Gammil, Millie Grace, Kathy Spry and Mary Burns and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Tuesday, August 25, 2009 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur with Pastor Rick Clos and Pastor James Snyder officiating. Military services will be conducted by the Wilkesville American Legion Post #476 and the McArthur VFW Post #5299. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday, from 3-8 P.M. Masonic services will be conducted by Opran's Friend Lodge 275 of Wilkesville at 7:30 P.M.
