Jesse Willard Appleman

Jesse Willard Appleman, 82, of McArthur, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Huston Nursing Home in Hamden. He was born October 31, 1926, in Vinton County, son of the late Lindsay and Zelma Barnett Appleman.

Jesse was a WWII Army Veteran, a lifetime member of the McArthur VFW Post #5299, a lifetime member of the Wellston American Legion Post #0371, a member of the Delta Masonic Lodge #207 in McArthur and a member of Moose Lodge # 1569 in Jackson.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, daughters, Martha Skip, Donna Bill, Alicia Craig and Carleen Darrell; several grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and a sister, Delores Atwood.

In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by a son, Philip Appleman and a grandson, Jesse Bidwell.

Jesse's request was to be cremated. No calling hours will be observed. A time of remembrance will be held from 1-3 P.M., Saturday, September 12, 2009, at the McArthur VFW Post #5299, 401 Veterans Memorial Drive, McArthur. Arrangements are by Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur.
