Della Esther Chaney

Della Esther Chaney, 100, of New Marshfield, passed away, Monday, September 7, 2009 at Kimes Convalescent Center, Athens. She was born October 20, 1908 in Carbondale, the daughter of the late Pearl and Sarah Jane Syx Lightfritz. She was the widow of the late Oscar D. Chaney who passed away in 1962.

Della retired from the housekeeping department at Ohio University in 1977.

She is survived by a son, Ralph Janet Chaney of New Marshfield; four grandsons, Gregory Chaney of New Marshfield and Bruce, David and Anthony Helen Chaney all of Nelsonville; eight great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Clifford Mona Chaney; a grandson, Michael; a great-great granddaughter, Stephanie; a brother, Ralph Lightfritz; a sister, Grace Livingston and two infant brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 10, 2009 at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev. Phillip Ridenour officiating. Interment will be at New Marshfield Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.

The Chaney family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Kimes Convalescent Center for their kindness and thoughtfulness in taking care of our loving mother and grandmother during her stay and in the final hours of her life.
