Ruby C. Reed

Ruby C. Reed, 66, of New Plymouth, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2009 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Logan. She was born September 6, 1943, in Columbus, daughter of Fayma Cottrill Roberts and the late James William Roberts. Ruby was married to James E. Reed, who survives.

She graduated in 1961 from Linden McKinley High School, was the former vice president of the Republican Women's Committee, a former election poll worker and an American Red Cross volunteer.

In addition to her mother and husband, Ruby is survived by sons, Sam Kerstin Reed of New Plymouth, Will Beth Reed of Logan and Luke Pam Reed of Parma; grandchildren, Joe, Eli and Jesse Reed, Chris and Tim Dames, Evan and Elizabeth Reed and Jasmine and Desire Steel; a brother, Melvin Susie Roberts of Florida; sisters, Ann John Cappel of Lancaster and Cherakee Michael Richardson of South Carolina and a close friend, Peyton Delia Black.

She was preceded in death by her father and a granddaughter, Emily Reed.

Ruby's wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held 1 P.M., Saturday, September 26, 2009 in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan with John Cappel officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, from 12 noon until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made in memory of Ruby C. Reed to the American Red Cross, 61 N. Market Street, Logan, Ohio 43138.
