Mildred R. Strausbaugh

Mildred R. Strausbaugh, 83, of Wilkesville, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. She was born February 23, 1926, in Mason County, West Virginia, daughter of the late Fred and Nellie Sayre. Mildred was the widow of the late Carey G. Strausbaugh.

She was a retired cook for the Baker Center at Ohio University, was a member of the Wilkesville Presbyterian Church, a member of the Wilkesville Eastern Star and the Women's Auxiliary Post #476 in Wilkesville.

Mildred is survived by a son, James H. Strausbaugh of Columbus; a daughter, Cindy L. Bascom French of Wilkesville; grandchildren, Andy Jeed Rogers of Columbus and Rhiannon Strausbaugh of Wilkesville; a great grandson, Ashton Tritipo; a brother, Leo Betty Sayre of Proctorville; sisters, Gladys Grate of Wilkesville, Opal Callihan of Gallipolis and Judy Piper of Athens and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Luster Sayre, Rene Blessing, Richard Sayre, Daniel Sayre, Pauline Robinson, Dora Long and Floyd Sayre.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Wednesday, September 30, 2009 in the Wilkesville Presbyterian Church, 107 High St., Wilkesville. Interment will be in Salem Center Cemetery, Meigs County. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, on Tuesday, from 4-8 P.M. and one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made in memory of Mildred R. Strausbaugh to the Wilkesville Presbyterian Church, 107 High St., Wilkesville, Ohio 45695 or to the Wilton Civic Association, P.O. Box 167, Wilkesville, Ohio 45695.
