Robert J. Loper

Robert J. Loper, 86, of Elkhart, Indiana, formerly of Vinton County, Ohio, passed away Monday, October 12, 2009 at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, Indiana. He was born September 10, 1923 in Dundas, Ohio, son of the late Theodore and Viola Perry Loper. Robert was the widower of the late Selma Kirkpatrick Loper.

He retired from CTS in Elkhart, Indiana and was a WWII Army Air Corps Veteran.

Robert is survived by a son, Robert C. Linda Loper of Elkhart, Indiana; daughters, Sandra Tim Ott of Union, Michigan, Kathryn Tom Gropp of Elkhart, Indiana, Mary Randy West of Goshen, Indiana and Debra Sean Bohner of Elkhart, Indiana; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Loper of Columbus and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Becky Loper; a sister, Kathleen Herrold and a brother, John Loper.

Graveside services will be held 2 P.M., Saturday, October 17, 2009 in Elk Cemetery, McArthur, with Rev. Dr. Walt Goble officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted by the McArthur VFW Post #5299. Arrangements are by Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Robert J. Loper to United Cancer Services, 23971 US 33, Elkhart, Indiana 46514 or Elkhart County Hospice, 2901 E. Bristol, Elkhart, Indiana 46514.
