David R. Davis, 79, of Logan, formerly of Nelsonville, passed away Monday, October 19, 2009 at Logan Health Care Center in Logan. He was born February 1, 1930, in Laramie, Wyoming, son of the late David W. and Mildred Buck Davis. David was married to Katherine Mellinger Davis, who survives.
He was a retired welder for Ohio Fuel Gas Company, a member of Anglers Paradise where he was an avid trap shooter, a former member of the Logan and Lancaster Moose.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by a son, Steven M. Davis of Logan; daughters, Angela S. James Thomas of New Straitsville and Teresa E. Lee Canter of Logan; grandchildren, Brandy Andy Ellinger of New Straitsville, Matthew Canter of Logan and Jessica Canter of Logan; a great granddaughter, Hannah Ellinger; brothers, Clarence Mary Ellen Davis of Michigan, Charles H. Davis of North Perry, Paul Marty Davis of Nelsonville and Dean Carol Davis of Los Alamos, California; sisters, Mabel L. Elmer Potter of Chillicothe, Ruby E. Hayden of Nelsonville and Jessie M. Campbell of Nelsonville and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ralph E. Davis and Hubert L. Davis.
A memorial service will be held 7 P.M., Saturday, October 24, 2009 in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan with Pastor David Rohrer officiating. No calling hours will be observed.
