Bernice M. Brooks

Bernice M. Brooks, 101, of Chillicothe, formerly of Zaleski, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2009 at her residence. She was born October 22, 1908 in Zaleski, daughter of the late Charles M. and Mary E. Chaffin Rhoades. Bernice was the widow of the late Bundy Brooks.

She was a member of the Zaleski United Methodist Church and attended Andersonville United Methodist church in Chillicothe. Bernice was also a member of the McArthur Eastern Star Sereno Chapter #128.

She is survived by a daughter, Betty J. Mabe of Chillicothe; a sister, Anna Harkless of Wheelersburg, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Bernice was preceded in death by her son-in-law, W.R. ""Russ"" Mabe; four sisters including her twin and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Wednesday, October 28, 2009 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur with Rev. Richard Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 4-8 P.M. with Eastern Star services being held at 7:30 P.M.
