Robert G. Lower, 86, of Nelsonville, passed away Friday, November 20, 2009 at Pickering House in Lancaster. He was born April 25, 1923 in Fresno, Ohio, son of the late Harley V. and Katherine Sheetz Lower. Robert was married to the late Verna A. Millholland Lower for over 60 years, who passed away July 26, 2008.

After high school, Robert drove fuel trucks for Standard Oil in Canton and Nelsonville. He later worked at Foster Drug and Jewelry and retired from the Peoples Bank. He was a member of the Nelsonville Elks Lodge #543, a former member of the former Philodorian Masonic Lodge # 157 in Nelsonville and was a present member of the Paramuthia Masonic Lodge # 25 in Athens.

Robert is survived by sons, Bill Lower of Nelsonville and Chris LuAnn Lower of San Diego, California; a daughter, Kathy Lawrence Morman of Delaware; grandchildren, Lisa Nile Smith of Evergreen, Colorado, Eric Fudge of Columbus, Daniel Lower of Mission Viejo, California and Michael Lower of Los Angeles, California; a brother, William H. Delores Lower of Fresno, Ohio and a sister, Mildred Hostettler of North Canton.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gerald and Babe Lower,

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Tuesday, November 24, 2009 in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev. Karen Walters officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 6-8 P.M. Elk services will be held at 7:30 P.M.
